Super Polymerization — RC-1 Notes

"Discard 1 card; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from either field as Fusion Material."

PSCT breakdown

  • Cost (before semicolon): discard 1 card. Paid on activation.
  • Effect (after semicolon): Fusion Summon, using materials from either field.

Why this card is a good board breaker

Super Polymerization explicitly states "Neither player can activate cards or effects in response to this card's activation." This card usually cannot be directly interacted with because this line of text restricts the pool of cards that can interact with it to only those that can do so without activating a card or effect. This leaves only a few unique cards like Angelica's Angelic Ring.

Common interactions

  • Targeting: Super Poly does not target. Cards that protect "while targeted" do not protect against it.
  • Chain block: Spell Speed 2 (Quick-Play). Can be activated during either player's turn at near any timing where Quick-Play Spells are allowed.
  • Fusion materials: must satisfy the Fusion Monster's listed materials exactly. Generic substitutes (e.g., King of the Swamp in hand) still apply if the Fusion lists a specific named material.

Judge calls to watch for

  1. Materials referenced by archetype ("Predaplant" + "Dragon-Type") — confirm both monsters meet the listed types/archetypes at resolution time.
  2. Effects that prevent monsters from being used as Fusion Material (e.g., Alba-Lenatus the Abyss Dragon) negate eligibility for that specific monster only.
  3. If the opponent has no legal materials and you have none, Super Poly cannot be activated — there must be at least one valid Fusion Summon possible at activation time.
